Private Bookmarks is a Chrome extension that lets users store private bookmarks in an encrypted local vault. The extension is designed so bookmark data stays on the user's device.

Data Handled By The Extension

Private Bookmarks handles the following data only to provide its bookmark vault functionality:

• Saved bookmark URLs, titles, and timestamps.
• Master password verification metadata used to unlock the local vault.
• Temporary unlock state stored in Chrome session storage.

How Data Is Stored

Bookmark data is encrypted locally using the user's master password and stored with Chrome extension storage. Private Bookmarks does not operate an external server for collecting, syncing, or processing vault data.

Data Sharing

Private Bookmarks does not sell, transfer, share, or transmit user data to third parties. Data is not used for advertising, analytics, creditworthiness, lending, or any purpose unrelated to the extension's single purpose.

Permissions

The extension uses the storage permission to save encrypted vault data locally. It uses the activeTab permission only when the user opens the popup, so the current page title and URL can be prefilled for saving.

Remote Code

Private Bookmarks does not use remote JavaScript or WebAssembly code. Extension code is included in the packaged extension.

Uninstalling

If the extension is uninstalled, Chrome removes the extension's locally stored data according to Chrome's extension storage behavior.
